Thesaurus on art and cultural policies

To facilitate access to the library collection, library staff make use of specific terminology. This terminology has been completely reviewed over the past few years to guarantee proper access. Thus a thesaurus emerged, explaining the scope and meaning of the term where needed. Horizontal and vertical relations also add to the clarification.

The thesaurus is developed in Dutch, but increasing international co-operation and a growth of foreign library users justified translation into English.
The Boekman Foundation hopes in co-operation with a number of related institutes to realise and maintain translations into French, Italian, Spanish and German.

Not only library-users, but also policy makers and managers could well benefit from the use of this thesaurus on art and cultural policies. Its structure clarifies the content of the terms in such a way that it strengthens (international) communication.

We welcome any suggestions and comments that may add to further development of this thesaurus.

The current version in both English and Dutch can be downloaded from here.
