State on stage
7 June 2007
During the State on Stage conference in Utrecht on the 7th of June 2007 we found out that, although performing arts in the 15 participating EU countries are all government supported, scope, depth, nature and volume of public support differ profoundly from country to country. States, provinces, regions and municipalities all have different objectives, roles and schemes in their financial support of the performing arts.
As a follow-up of the international conference State on Stage Boekmanstudies and VSCD will gather and publish all information related to the project, including descriptions of best practices in government support of the performing arts. This new information will be added to the already available gallery of 15 national portraits of performing arts policy in the related countries. This book will be published in the spring of 2008.
Literature surveys
The Boekman Foundation carries out literature surveys in preparation of (international) conferences, public discussions, debates, and expert meetings. Exemples of (ongoing) literature surveys are:
- A cultural component as an integral part of the EU's foreign policy?
Diane Dodd and Melle Lyklema, Boekman Foundation
Kathinka Dittrich-Van Weringh, European cultural foundation / LabforCulture
The goal of this study is to produce a comprehensive document which will serve both as a resource for further research and as an analysis of current debates in the field of European cultural diplomacy and European cultural cooperation with non EU-partners in the world.
Commissioned by the European Cultural Foundation and the Boekman Foundation.
- A Portrait of the Artist in 2015 : Artistic Careers and higher Arts Education (2004)
This anthology has been published as an introduction to a conference with the same name of the European Council of Artists (ECA). Organized by a coalition of the Dutch Federation of Artists Association (Federatie van Kunstenaarsverenigingen), the Association of Universities of Professional Education (HBO-raad) and the Boekman Foundation, the conference was held in the beginning of October 2004 in Amsterdam.
Commissioned research
Commissioned academic research is carried out under the auspices of Boekmanstudies, foundation for research in arts, culture and related policy. Usually researchers from outside the Boekman Foundation are contracted for this.
