Boekmanstudies


Boekmanstudies, the Boekman Foundation's publishing business, develops, edits, produces and distributes publications about the social aspects of the arts and culture. These either stem from the foundation's activities or are commissioned, or manuscripts are submitted.

Recent themes include: private financing of museums, sociology of art, pop-music policy, governments and historic buildings, film and theatre, children and theatre, galleries, Duch cinema, future scenarios for cultural policy, purchasing and subsidy policy of museums of modern art, concert audiences and research on the cultural participation and interaction of the public.

Boekmanstudies also publishes in co-operation with the government division of Elsevier, Elsevier Overheid, the series of legal guides Rechtwijzers. This series provides legal information for non-specialists on copyright and performance rights and the social-security system in relation to the various art forms. There are Rechtwijzers for the performing arts, visual arts, music, theatre and creative writing.

Lastly, the papers and discussions form the Boekman's international congresses are edited and published. The following have been issued: A portrait of the artist in 2015 (2004), A must or a-muse (2001), Privatization and culture (1998), Trading culture (1996) and Art museums and the price of succes (1993).
