In den letzten Jahren ist ein Anstieg rechtsextremer Tendenzen in der deutschen Politik und Gesellschaft zu beobachten. Diese Entwicklung spiegelt sich in der deutschen Musikszene wi-der, in der sowohl zunehmend rechtsextremistische als auch antifaschistische Protestmusik erscheint. Diese Arbeit untersucht, wie sich deutsche Popmusiker:innen gegen den zunehmenden Rechtsextremismus in Deutschland äußern, anhand einer Analyse von drei Liedern, die zwischen 2016 und 2021 erschienen sind. Anhand einer Kombination von Close Reading der Lyrics und Diskursanalyse sowie auf der Grundlage von Streets’ Theorie zur Protestmusik werden die Liedtexte in ihren gesellschaftspolitischen Kontext eingeordnet. Aus der Analyse geht hervor, dass die Musiker:innen sprachliche Mittel einsetzen, um ihre Standpunkte zum Ausdruck zu bringen und auf diese Weise direkte und indirekte Kritik am Rechtsextremismus üben. In den Liedern lassen sich zusätzlich die verschiedenen Protestfunktionen politischer Kommunikation, Repräsentation, Partizipation und Mobilisierung erkennen.
